the unforgiven\\the unsaved

holding your original sin close to your chest

will not bring the dead babies back.

what dreams may come & oh, orpheus

you cannot undo what you burned to ashes

the earth will not forgive you.

is it indigo in the in between?

the purgatorial sidewalk crack

where the forgotten slip back to memory.

unfolding the bloom like silk shifting to the floor in silence.

the flowers do not subscribe to the abrahamic religions

but they weep over all the loss,

the blood that sinks to their roots.

no one is coming to save you,

to forgive your sins—original or hand woven.

you will not be forgiven,

man made or divine.

the deities spit, but we’ve burned the atmosphere unrecognizable

so much so it never reaches your cheek.

i will not turn the other.

no repentance sorry enough,

no act of contrition sincere enough,

to undo what you’ve done.

the earth will not forgive you.
